Liquidware ProfileUnity Seamlessly Integrates Workers in Healthcare Merger

Latest Updates - Mon, 2021-02-15 22:16

Center of Excellence Partner Forthright Technology Partners Migrates 30,000 users in record time

CHICAGO, IL. - February 16, 2020 - Liquidware, the leader in adaptive workspace management, today announced its solution, ProfileUnity, was key in migrating 30,000 users when a major Orlando-based healthcare company went on an acquisition spree. ProfileUnity’s automated migration process has proven to support a reliable playbook for bringing new staff into the environment efficiently and cost effectively for any future mergers or acquisitions.

The customer had a very aggressive timeline of migrating 30,000 users over the course of just two weekends. Forthright Technology Partners, based in Florida, were engaged to deliver the support and Liquidware competence to achieve this goal.

"As a Liquidware Center of Excellence, we have many certified technicians on staff some of who worked diligently to assess the situation and business requirements prior to running a proof of concept," commented Frank M. Merion, VP of Professional Services at Forthright, "ProfileUnity is best in class for providing zero-downtime migrations. Using this solution and applying our expertise, Forthright was able to provide a seamless migration of 30,000 users to the new environment in the tight timeframe required."

ProfileUnity was installed on user desktops and automatically harvested the user profile, including OS and application personalization settings and user-authored data. ProfileUnity is configurable to cleanup profiles and only lift important user profile data, leaving caches and bloated areas behind. When the harvest was completed, ProfileUnity created a “universal user profile” that supported co-existing (both backward and forward compatibility) over multiple Microsoft Windows OSs, allowing the organization to “migrate once and forever” to newer desktop or server OS versions. Its advanced Active Directory capabilities automatically retrieve user account information from domain servers. In this case, the profiles could be loaded to the new domain server and to desktops the first time users logged in. ProfileUnity also handles folder redirection and establishes access to the user’s local printers.

Because ProfileUnity is so automated and scalable, the mass migration was accomplished with a handful of people over two weekends, not the dozens that would have been needed if it used common tools to manage the domain change and profile migration. The health system’s small team, working with representatives from Liquidware and Forthright, achieved the aggressive timeline goal.

ProfileUnity’s key advantages in this deployment were:

  • It executed the domain and Windows OS migrations in a single step. That capability significantly reduced the overall expected conversion time, and the corresponding costs.
  • Just as significant, the migration executed without blocking users from accessing their desktops and systems during the transition. This was an essential requirement for the health system because its doctors and other caregivers need access to their notes and patient files at all times.
  • ProfileUnity works for all Windows OS versions and for any kind of desktop – physical or virtual, including Microsoft RDSH, Windows Virtual Desktops (WVD), Amazon WorkSpaces, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and VMware Horizon. While the new desktops are standardized on physical machines running Windows 10, the pre-migration population was not homogenous.

"Working with partners like Forthright enables Liquidware to deliver our adaptive workspace management solutions to joint customers," stated Chris Akerberg, President and COO at Liquidware. "They have invested in our technology and this particular customer requirement of migrating 30,000 users to a new environments, due to an acquisition, demonstrates the power of us working together to deliver unimaginable benefit to customers."

Liquidware Highlights Significant ROI Opportunities with Their Adaptive Workspace Management Suite

    Latest Updates - Mon, 2021-02-08 22:02

Savings of nearly $7M identified, by working with a major enterprise customer’s own cost structure and data.

CHICAGO, IL. - February 9, 2021 - Liquidware, the leader in adaptive workspace management, today announced a series of new benchmarks to help organizations identify cost savings areas utilizing the company’s adaptive management workspace suite. The benchmarks range from licensing costs to increased productivity.

"To establish our trusted ROI approach, we worked with dozens of customers, including those in healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. The goal from the outset has been to determine where and how we can provide significant savings," commented Liquidware president and COO Chris Akerberg. "We also engaged with the analyst community, such as Gartner, IDC, and ESG, to validate our approach. Customers confirmed the elements we focus on are exactly the kinds of areas that leading analysts have highlighted to them for improvement. We are now rolling this out as a structured ROI process for all our customers."

In collaboration with customers, Liquidware identified five key areas for cost savings:

    • Elimination/consolidation of redundant and narrowly focused tools
    • Software license recovery savings from unused applications
    • Hardware lifecycle extension through optimization of existing desktops and servers
    • Increased productivity of administrators through staff-hours saved with streamlined workspace management
    • Drastically lowering user downtime as a result of data disasters and desktop transformations

One recent ROI study by Liquidware focused on a 5,000-user manufacturing customer that was able to realize both capital expenditure (CapEx) and operating expenditure (OpEx) savings in a number of such areas. By working closely with the customer, Liquidware found potential ROI savings in the following areas:

    • Implementing ProfileUnity User Environment Management to eliminate multiple other software tools - Savings of $2,992,000 in CapEx costs
    • Extending hardware lifecycle with Stratusphere UX’s Optimizer features - Savings of $1,350,000 in CapEx costs
    • Annual software license cost savings through Stratusphere UX identifying unused software licenses - Savings of $250,000 in CapEx costs
    • Increasing user and admin productivity with ProfileUnity, FlexApp, and Stratusphere UX through automated migrations, streamlined image management, centralized desktop admin, and a reduction of user downtime in troubleshooting - Savings of $ 3,010,390 in OpEx costs

Even after accounting for the licensing of Liquidware’s Adaptive Workspace Management suite, the total estimated savings for the customer featured in this study was estimated at nearly $7M.

Liquidware has developed an ROI calculator where customers can use their unique data in order to calculate their savings and how their environment can benefit from adaptive workspace management solutions. Visit https://www.liquidware.com/company/roi/ for information about the estimated ROI for your organization. The link includes a quick inquiry form to start your custom ROI calculation query.

Liquidware also is offering customers a consultative approach once the calculator results have been collated, whereby a Liquidware expert will analyze the findings with the customer to determine the best way forward to produce a more dynamic workspace environment and increase user productivity.

The process and basis for Liquidware’s ROI analysis is outlined in a whitepaper than can be read here https://info.liquidware.com/New-ROI-Whitepaper_Whitepaper-Landing-Page.html

Finally, to introduce this concept to a wider audience, Liquidware hosted a webinar on January 27th. The recording can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4v-IHWY8aN0.

This latest version provides enhanced support for simultaneous multi-session logins, auto recovery of profile disks and FSLogix profiles, as well as management console ease of use features.

Virtual and cloud-based Windows desktops frequently see users login to more than one location, such as a physical PC, a virtual desktop session, and a multi-user environment, such as Citrix Virtual Apps or Windows 10 multi-session on Microsoft Azure.
